Last month I shared the H.O.P.E. principle with you and as we walk into a brand new year I believe the W.A.L.K. principle will be helpful to all of us.
Many years ago I began the practice of selecting a scripture verse for the year – in 2002, Colossians 1:10 was my choice. That I may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God… I have since adopted this verse as my life scripture and it is the root of the W.A.L.K. principle.
Work: This in no way implies salvation by works, but is the active verb of doing something beneficial and Godly. A worker who does not need to be ashamed (2 Timothy 2:15). There is work for us to do!
And: Not just a conjunction but in this case it means “plus something else” in addition to work.
Learn: Okay, here lies the challenge! Don’t just work at it (i.e. Bible study, practice, hearing from God, etc.) but learn something!
Knowledge: The Bible clearly teaches two kinds of knowledge; the kind the world teaches and the kind The Word teaches. I want to be a sponge for Godly knowledge. If you’re up to a bit of digging – do a word study with a Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance of the word knowledge – you will be greatly enlightened and you will increase in knowledge!
So, there you have it, women of hope…W.A.L.K. into 2011 working and learning new knowledge of the one and only, true and living God.
Happy and blessed New Year!
*All scripture is quoted from the New King James Version.
