When a Woman Overcomes Life’s Hurts

Harvest House: August 2012

The road of life has its fair share of detours, which occasionally take you to unexpected destinations. In When a Woman Overcomes Life’s Hurts, Cindi McMenamin describes these surprising detours through the personal stories of several women.  These stories reveal the commonality of bad situations. Countless women struggle with unfulfilled dreams, miscarriages, drug trafficking, insecurity, and abuse – or worse. It is in this book that McMenamin explores how these women handle their trials with God’s grace and strength and how readers can, too.

McMenamin discusses how God helps to overcome negativity through healing and teaching. Through examples, readers learn from the horrible experiences illustrated within the book. It is through these women that readers may mature, grow, and learn as they have had to conquer and stand against many odds. Relating God’s Word to these women’s stories, McMenamin guides readers with steps towards the healing and wholeness process. McMenamin included questions to develop character and change habits of thinking and even prayers, which aim to lead to a wholesome relationship and agreement with God.

This book touched my soul and with tears, I turned each page believing that God is going to heal me from my pain. I want to change the habit of focusing on the bad things that I have faced and instead, focus on my progress. After reading When a Woman Overcomes Life’s Hurts, I am physically, mentally, and spiritually healthier today. Will you join me in reading, and let God heal you? Will you walk with McMenamin and the other women to learn how they overcame life’s hurts?
