In order to overcome negative habits and emotions, you must first acknowledge that your current path does not lead to that tender emotion that we all desire: love. For love to be given and received, you must first learn to open yourself up to God. In her book, Your Heart’s Desire, Sheri Rose Shepherd helps you do just that. Your Heart’s Desire is an excellent read for women who want to transcend the painful walls built by negative habits and begin accepting the true love they seek.
Shepherd begins each chapter with personal experiences, stories, and valuable information. Shepherd then explores the heart’s desire through biblical teachings via her love-coaching sections which give her readers powerful, life-changing prayers to lift up to God. Each prayer is then followed by a love letter written by God himself, whereby his love relinquishes every doubt and insecurity that causes suffering.
Shepherd uses these prayers and letters to help women overcome feelings that often hinder spiritual and emotional growth, such as anger and resentment, loneliness, and heartbreak. It is through these instruments of forgiveness and faith that Shepherd instills the importance of loving God primarily, for all other relationships cannot flourish without this true love.
The simplicity of Your Heart’s Desire is what makes it beautiful. The book candidly discourages the unnecessary complications women so often limit themselves with and guides readers through a focused and simple journey toward God’s love.
