At the Feet of Jesus: Daily Devotions to Nurture a Mary Heart

Waterbrook Press, 2012

Most of you probably know the story of Mary, Martha, and Lazarus from the Bible, but have you ever thought about what it would truly be like to sit at the feet of Jesus? What about how this story translates to our lives now?

Joanna Weaver eloquently answers these questions in her year-long devotional, At the Feet of Jesus. Translating Scripture readings and relating true stories, Weaver explains how we can each have the close relationship with Jesus that we crave.

This devotional builds upon Weaver’s Bethany Trilogy, but don’t fret if you haven’t read her previous books. You can read this one on its own and benefit deeply from every page. To help guide you through each day, there is a select Bible passage and reflection question, in addition to other opportunities for you to dive deeper into the Word. Each day’s devotion builds upon the previous, helping you stay on track in your faith journey.

Included at the end of the book is a Bible reading plan, for those who want to study God’s Word but don’t quite know where to start – just as Weaver didn’t when she began to get serious about learning the Bible. Weaver’s hope is that the Word will come alive for each of us just as it did for her.

For me, the daily devotions led to a deeper understanding of my faith journey and how we each need to have our own personal relationship with Christ. My prayer is that this book makes you think as much as it made me. I highly recommend you pick this one up – for yourself or for a friend. Start 2013 out with a spiritual resolution to know God (and yourself) better!
