Quick tips you can incorporate today for your health and wellbeing.
February traditionally is seen as the month of love. Instead of spreading the love to your favorite person, be selfish and begin loving yourself. For years you have put other people first, whether it was family, friends, co-workers or even your neighbors. Putting others first may have caused you to neglect your own health. Slow down, diva. Be selfish enough to choose YOU. Prepare yourself with these five tips for loving yourself daily to good health.
Tip 1: Speak life each morning over your health and wellbeing. Has anyone ever told you that you look tired? If you agree, the next thing you know, you start walking sluggish, sounding tired and can’t wait for the day to be over. You have every right to say “No, I’m not!” Start speaking life. Proverbs 18:21 says, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit” (NIV). Speak up and say, “No, I’m not tired,” and watch what happens. Remember your words have power. Don’t let someone else’s word become more meaningful in your life than your own.
Tip 2: Drinking eight glasses of water a day at a minimum. To find out how much you should drink, read the article on WebMD at http://www.webmd.com/diet/features/water-for-weight-loss-diet. Do you know that our bodies are made up of 50 to 65 percent water? The brain is made up of 75 percent water. Keep your body hydrated and your brain operating at top peak.
Tip 3: Keep your mind sharp. The top ways to keep your mind sharp are doing crossword puzzles, constantly reading or playing simple computer games. I remember several years ago when my mom came to visit for Christmas she had a Nintendo DS. She was doing anagrams, spot the difference and crossword puzzles on this electronic handheld device. This was probably when my mom was 60 years old. She is 69 now. Challenge your mind for mental health.
Tip 4: Exercise. Will it be walking around the block? Will you start a yoga class? Will you learn the art of meditation? The saying is health equals wealth! I believe health is wealth when you have access to eat healthier, exercise, and visit doctors, dentists, chiropractors, naturopaths and even eye doctors. What you start doing today for loving yourself daily to health sends an unspoken message to those around you. Some will stop you and ask what you are doing different.
Tip 5: Eat to live instead of living to eat. Have you heard an apple a day will keep the doctor away? Have you been guilty of eating something that taste sooo good going down, but you regret it later when your body displays one of the following symptoms: bloatiness, stomachache, gassiness, breaking out in hives, a headache or even sleepiness? Are you guilty of ignoring the way your body talks to you? Being healthy does not mean disrespecting your body with food. Putting the wrong food in your body will result in diabetes, high blood pressure, cholesterol issues and more.
Be brave enough to move forward today in loving yourself to daily health. You cannot get the past back. You can increase the years on your life by what you do today! I challenge you to love yourself daily to health from this moment on.
