The Wait

DeVon Franklin and Meagan GoodHusband-and-wife power couple, Meagan Good-Franklin and DeVon Franklin, have a simple message for readers of their new book, The Wait: A Powerful Practice for Finding the Love of Your Life and the Life You Love You: You are worth the wait.

“We want to encourage people to take control,” said Good-Franklin, who has appeared in a number of television shows and films, including Minority Report, Anchorman 2, and the Think Like a Man movie franchise. “I want people to learn that God’s way is the best way. The Wait isn’t about being able to find a husband or a wife. It’s about allowing God’s best for you. It’s also about his preparation for your purpose and your calling.”

Good-Franklin is a living witness that waiting works. Before getting married in 2012, she and her husband decided to abstain from sex. “With DeVon, our physical connection didn’t come until after we got married,” she said. “We connected on a deeper level. I didn’t have the other issues this time around. The blessing is I know who I married, and he knows who he married. Personally, I wanted to be celibate, but for whatever reason, I didn’t stick with it,” she said.

Good-Franklin believes that everyone has the ability to be celibate, and that the myth that you should try before you buy is overrated.

“Feeling like you need to test out the relationship is a cop out,” she said. “(Waiting) is a faith walk. You have to trust that God will show you what you need to do with and for each other if you do things His way.”
