Ring in the spring of 2017 with a mini-vacation! Give yourself and your family a break in one of these five Midwest cities that are perfect for a weekend getaway.

Chicago, Illinois

The Windy City has no shortage of fun family activities. Start with the Chicago Children’s Museum at Navy Pier, and then have an unforgettable shopping experience with a trip to the American Girl store or Lego Land. And the weekend wouldn’t be complete without snapping some family photos at the famous Bean sculpture. Look here for more family activities.

Cincinnati, Ohio

While Cincinnati might not be your first thought for vacation, the city is perfect for a trip with kids. Activities include the Cincinnati Children’s museum, the Newport Aquarium or a Cincinnati Cyclones hockey game. If you want to enjoy the spring weather, consider visiting the Cincinnati Zoo to see tigers, lions and other animals. If you’ve got a foodie in the family, you can’t miss Findlay Market in Over the Rhine, where you’ll find a variety of fresh food and rich culture.

Indianapolis, Indiana

Indy is a hub for families wanting to get in touch with their creative sides. The city is home to the world’s largest children’s museum. The building offers almost one million square feet of fun! In addition to classes, The Indianapolis Art Center offers ARTSPARK, a space where nature and art meet to create a lasting experience. The park is home to more than 27 sculptures and can be toured for as low as $2.50 per person.

Louisville, Kentucky

Louisville is home to many activities for both adults and children. The Louisville Slugger Museum, dubbed “one of the world’s greatest sports museums” by Forbes Magazine, offers a behind-the-scenes tour of how the famous baseball bats are made. You can also catch a show at the Stage One Family Theatre or travel back in time with a ride on the Belle of Louisville, a 1914 steamboat.

Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Milwaukee is perfect for families who want to soak up a lovely spring weekend. Take your family to Veteran’s Park, where you can rent kites, bikes or paddleboats for the lake. For a different kind of park, visit The Mitchell Park Horticultural Conservatory, nicknamed “The Domes,” where you can see a variety of plant life from tropical and desert locations. After your outdoor fun, eat dinner downtown and snap a picture with the “Bronze Fonz” at Riverwalk.

Wherever you choose to go for your getaway, remember to slow down and enjoy the spring season. Follow Hope’s blog for future content on these amazing Midwest cities.
