Easy tips for creating the updo you’ve been longing to wear.
In the Victorian era, when a woman wore her hair down and draped around her shoulders it was considered provocative and seductive, a luxury only her husband was exposed to. The women instead desired upswept hairstyles that alluded to sophistication, wealth, and elegance. In today’s society most women have reserved updos for weddings, proms, and galas, which provide the same dose of elegance in a modern way. Gone are the days of overly-sculpted statuesque hair! Lead hair stylists have opted for a relaxed, sophisticated, and sleek approach to charm. The most popular style is “The Loose Updo.”
Eva Longoria’s signature red carpet hair style is the loose updo. This year she stepped out on red carpets and prestigious award shows featuring a chic style that turned heads. Follow these quick, easy steps to achieve her look of prestige and glamour.
Step 1: After the hair is washed and blown dry, apply a styling product such as pomade or a mousse that will allow you to get a beautiful textured look without leaving your hair looking heavy. Then proceed to add loose waves to the hair with a medium barrel curling iron (for shorter hair select a smaller barrel iron).
Step 2: Next, tease the hair at the crown and create the slightly-off center part. Pull the hair back toward the crown and separate the loose waves. Then collect the hair slightly below the crown and pin in different places closer to the roots.
Step 3: Take various thin strands of hair and pull them out, creating different lengths all around. You can curl these strands or leave them straight.
In three simple steps you can achieve a modern twist to a classic hairstyle!
