The changing seasons — from warmer, to cooler, to colder — means putting away the brighter, beach-inspired color palettes. Winter is here — and it’s all about deep, dark colors and sassy jewel tones! Winter doesn’t mean donning dreary hues; instead, experimenting with darker shades at holiday parties — or even while out for a day of shopping – will keep you feeling inspired to “go for something new” during winter’s chill!
Lips:
Deep, dark reds are the “go-to” lip color for winter. Play around with the plethora of reds that complement your skin tone. It’s best to avoid matching your lips to your outfit — go with a color that will stand out, but enhance your best feature: your smile! Try Covergirl LipPerfection Lipstick, which goes on smoothly and keeps your lips looking luscious all day long. For a rich and vibrant shade try their “Tempt.”
Eyes:
Dark eyes are a key trend for this season – and there are many ways to experiment with this dramatic look. Have fun going from moody shadows, to shimmering shades — that stand out at your next seasonal social event! Target sells inexpensive eye kits that will allow you to play around with colors…and dramatic eyes will add a striking flair to any winter ensemble.
Hair:
Braids are the latest trend for winter. Whether multiple small braids, or one big one, twists and plaits add a bohemian flavor to every outfit. Try smaller braids drawn into a messy bun — or a french braid across your forehead. Another fave this winter is big, voluminous hair! Volumizing products like 24 hour Body Foaming Mousse can be used before you blow-dry your hair to make it even fuller. Rollers can add volume to your hair — along with a little curl.
Nails:
Dark jewel tones are the look for nails this winter. Look for colors like dark purple, hunter green, and navy blue. These will go well with your winter ensembles, without being too overpowering. Neutral browns and tans are good colors for winter business events. Check out OPI and Essie – both have a great collection of colors for the season!
