Over the past year, liquid lipsticks have become more popular thanks to Instagram and, of course, the really hard to get Kylie Lip Kits. Liquid lipsticks, despite their appearance, are usually not glossy. They apply as a liquid because they contain more oils and polymers (and less wax) than a traditional bullet lipstick, then they dry down to an opaque, almost chalky, matte finish.
I have fallen in love with them because of the many color selections and the long-wearing. But they aren’t for everybody, because sometimes after wearing it for a couple hours, they dry out your lips. I always recommend to either put a base primer on your lips or do a lip scrub to add moisture to your lips and make the liquid lipstick not feel so chalky.
Many liquid lipsticks are in the market now ranging from $6 to $20. Of the couple of brands I’ve tried, I’m in love with the Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipsticks. The colors are amazing! They do feel chalky, but they are longer wearing. You can typically get to wear a liquid lipstick ranging from two to three hours, which is perfect time for a nice dinner and hanging out with your girls.
My second favorite brand is Dose of Colors. I love that you don’t have to use a lip liner, and the color will not bleed or smear; it will stay put on your lips.
I recommend applying liquid lipstick in small layers not all at once, because in the long run they will start to crack and won’t last you as long as you want to wear it for.
Give liquid lipsticks a try. I promise you once you try them you won’t look at lipsticks the same.
