It was a gorgeous day in New York City as I made my way to the studio of Samantha Leibowitz. The thing that struck me about her most was that she had an ease and confidence far beyond her twenty-four years. Her family stories, her inclusive view of great fashion for all sizes – these combined, truly sold me on Samantha.
From her indulgent color palette to her highly impressive resume Samantha is lighting the way for a new generation. Prior to founding Samantha Leibowitz New York she cut her teeth as an intern for Lilly Pulitzer, served as a member of the Fashion Board for Nordstrom, and became a certified colorist. Even more inspiring to me is her absolute love of equipping women to boldly express themselves through fabulous style.
One of my favorite pieces in her current collection has to be her signature Samantha dress, which started my visual love affair with the line at the NYFW Nolcha Shows venue. It is a fabulous drawstring dress that you can wear maxi, midi, or whatever your stylish mind can conceive. I am also in love with the Sandra Fit & Flare for fall, the Doris Trim Top, and the Irene Maxi Dress. All of which are available in sizes extra small to 2x, which had me super excited as I browsed her amazing designs in her cozy NYC studio.
Beyond the design aspect, Samantha’s heart for serving the community, as well as making women of all sizes look fabulous captures my memories of the afternoon we spent together. It’s about time for you to meet this awesome designer on the rise.
