♫ Singing: You’ve gotta have heart…All you really need is heart…When the odds are saying…You’ll never win…That’s when the grin should start…You’ve gotta have heart…Miles ‘n miles ‘n miles of heart! ♫
Before I write another word, allow me to clarify I am not old enough to remember when this song was popular but I do remember watching the old musical with Eddie Fisher singing this song in Da*n Yankees many years ago.
February is the month for hearts! It is American Heart Month – and we are reminded to take good care of our heart health. It is also the month for love – Valentine’s Day – when we remember those special to us with glittery cards and we form messages with sugary heart candies. Who doesn’t like to find a chocolate kiss on their pillow?
I have something new to consider this month … The H.E.A.R.T. Principle … Hope Eternal And Resolute Trust. This principle that we can apply to our lives sounds easy but there is a real challenge in having “resolute trust” in our heavenly Father. The book, He Loves Me by Wayne Jacobsen, has a chapter (eleven) devoted to trusting the Father. It is quite life-changing. I have always thought what Father wanted before anything else was obedience but it is more and more clear to me that without trust, there could not be obedience. How can we obey someone/something that we don’t trust? Do you see what I’m saying? It was another one of those light bulb moments in my spiritual walk.
I will break down the acronym H.E.A.R.T.
- Hope: So many scriptures, not enough space! Titus 1:2 …in hope of eternal life which God, who cannot lie, promised before time began. Titus 3:7 …we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life. Hebrews 6:19 This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast… Friends, God’s hope is not a wish or a maybe – it is as solid and steadfast and sure as an anchor for our soul.
- Eternal: Straight from a Thesaurus…lasting, forever, everlasting, infinite, timeless, endless, immortal, without end. Got it? John 10:28 And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. (Jesus’ words.) Let’s do the happy, hallelujah dance!
- And: Remember, this is not just a joining word – it is a conjunction meaning, wait a minute, there’s something more!
- Resolute: Webster’s…1. firmly set in purpose or opinion; determined; resolved. 2. characterized by firmness and determination. Are we?
- Trust: Let’s refer to Webster’s again – 2. confident expectation of something; hope. *One can obey God and yet not trust Him, and in doing so miss out on a relationship with Him. One cannot, however, trust God and be disobedient to Him. For we shall see that all disobedience flows out of mistrust in God’s nature and of His intentions toward us. …He desired people who would relate to Him in love rather than obey Him in fear. (and, one more!) …and, that real trust could emerge only where people were free to reject it. I ask you, and myself, Do I trust Him?
February, it is my hope that all of us reading this never think of this delightful “month of hearts” the same way we have in the past. We have a new reason to celebrate because we have Hope Eternal And Resolute Trust! Glory to God in the highest and H.E.A.R.T. in our hearts this special month!

Thank you for the reminder to take care of our physical hearts.
Warmly,

Would it be too corny to say, "It's from my ♥!" Thank you Aleysha for the confirmation!
Another good blog….enjoyed this with my coffee this morning…love you …have a good day! Oh, and thank you for being led to post from YOUR heart!
Sandy, you are a true friend! ♥
Wow!! what a message for this Heart Day! Only you Susan can pen this so perfect, the way Our Lord wanted us to hear. Thank you honey, for sharing this, this is another keeper. will have to copy this in my bible. Isn't our Lord just so Beautiful, and the Best Gift for Valentine's Day.
Love ya honey
HM…you are so right – Jesus is the Ultimate Valentine! Thank you for the encouragement!
Great Valentine's Day Card! Do you trust ME? That is what He has been asking me for months now. Yes, we cannot obey anyone we can't trust.
Yes Lord I do trust you!
Good word Sis.
Thank you, sister…………………….♥
Susan, once again you have touched my 'heart' through the words given to you by the Spirit! I am so glad you have that resolute trust…it's contagious! Love you so much and thank you for sharing. I'll remember this one for sure!
Laneice, as you continue to walk through the aftermath of Kaleb's accident, I am sure your Hope & Trust levels get higher and higher! Your comments are always an encouragement to me!
Susan, thank you for sharing this and for your encouragement today when I really needed it!
Amy, never will I forget how you encouraged me years ago when we worked together – what a privilege it is for me to see you grow in HIM! It makes me downright giddy with joy!
Thanks for sharing this. There is a situation that I am praying for right now, and this helps me to know that He is My Savior, and will take care of my every need. I need to TRUST Him in this situation, and in all situations. This to has touched my "heart".
Chanda, trust I believe is the most difficult principle we must learn. God doesn't want our lip service, He wants our resolute TRUST. Jesus, Himself, advised us to "trust no man save The Father" – we are wise to heed His instruction! Thank you for the confirmation!
I love acronyms for the obvious–I never forget em.
Thanks for taking "Heart" to whole notha level & for throwing in a freebie bok recommendation too!!
Thanks Susan! I needed this reminder today and what peace and joy I feel when I trust our Lord. I'm thankful that He has a plan; I can sure make a mess of things when I forget that He is in control. Love you!
