~Silence is Golden

Do you have those people in your life that just constantly are talking? Like, they never quiet down enough for you to get a word in edgewise… or even collect your thoughts enough to THINK of getting a word in edgewise?

I know I do.

Just like the 3 year old, mom, or best friend in your life.

Sometimes we hear them tell us the events of their day or something important that’s happening…or maybe they’re rambling on because they are over tired and just need to talk to stay awake. (Don’t deny it…you know you’ve done it!)

But you know what? Think about your spiritual life. Do you ever stop to actually LISTEN to what God has to say? Do you ever slow down and become still so He can speak to you?

God is always there. Always listening. Even when there are millions of other people around the world talking to Him at the same time. He hears everything.

But then I’m constantly surrounding myself with projects to do, a house to be cleaned and groceries to get in the few spare hours of each day that aren’t occupied with the other priorities in life. Not to mention the constant “noise” that is around us- like the internet, television, or maybe even the church events or meetings we are involved in.

But do we stop?

Do we listen?

I know that’s one of the hardest things to do in my life.

And then when I’m in a crisis – even something that God has been preparing me for – I’m constantly talking to Him, asking Him what I should do next. But I don’t hear Him. I don’t stop long enough to hear the instructions that He’s giving to me.

To be a stronger woman, to achieve greater things, to follow, and to kneel in front of Him and show that I am weak… so that He can build me up again.

God wants us to hear Him…just like He hears us every moment of every day.
