Heather’s Hints for Hot Bods & Healthy Minds

As we say in sunny South Florida… HOLA!!
I thought we’d kick things off with a little bit about myself & how I arrived to a serious & passionate destination about health & fitness. Since I was 8,
I have been in and out of the hospital (lost track after the 20th time) with an undiagnosed/untreatable lung condition.
Additionally, when I was in college, due to an ashamedly steady diet of beer, I become overweight & very unhealthy. Between these two misfortunes, I entered my late 20s with a prayer & a blind leap into living a NEW life that would be fit, healthy & godly. It is from this, that I hope to encourage you. Important to note: I AM NOT AN EXPERT!
OK, let’s get started. The following is my abbreviated “thinny” list (I use “thinny” instead of “skinny.” “Skinny” has a lot of bad imagery associated with it) of things I do to maintain a healthy weight for my height and age…
1. Wear girdles &/or Spanx. Just sayin’…but they really work!
2. When eating out, drink 3-4 glasses of water before entree is served.
3. Work out 6x/week
4. When eating out, order appetizer or entree, but not both.
5. When eating out, wear tighter pants as an uncomfy reminder to not indulge.
6. At home, after dinner & dishes, “close down” the kitchen for the night-turning off all the lights in a cleaned-up kitchen.
7. Indoctrinate that anything made fast: fast food, fast pizza, fast tacos, etc., is hazardous to my health.
8. Pray for discipline. Christ-followers have a gift God’s given them-self control (Galatians 5:23). If we pray for the release of that gift, we have God’s power in our weakness! And we can do this!! WhoooHoooo!!

I love that you point out the fact that God has given us self-control for the taking…I need to be taking! =P

Heather, I would first like to say that I LOVE your personality!!! Last August I graduated from college with about 25lbs (yikes) more than I started with. When I moved back home I got VERY disciplined and shed the weight…ONLY with the help of God hunni
Thanks for the great tips!
