One Billion What?

As a grateful team-member of the Hope Magazine tribe, I’ve been given the blogging genre of “Fitness & Wellness.” Thus far, my posts have been about OUR fitness and OUR wellness. But today, that strangely dawned on me. Then it convicted me. So this post will be about someone else. Today, 1,ooo,ooo,ooo people are…attending church? buying new cars? in debt? using cell phones? overweight? None of the above. Today, 1,000,000,000 people are hungry in the world. According to U.N. food officials, the global financial meltdown has pushed the ranks of the world’s hungry to a record 1 billion people. Most of us are not in perfect fitness or wellness. But none of us are starving, dehydrated and slowly dying. Today, I humbly submit to all of us that if we say a blessing before we eat, perhaps include a prayer for those who won’t. Together, let’s pray, (let’s believe!) that Matthew 19:26 doesn’t just apply to us…but to them as well. That yes, with God, all things are possible.
