~Butterfly

We all know of the transformation that occurs when a caterpillar enters her cocoon to become a butterfly. I’ve often wondered if the caterpillar realizes what is to come or just winds up in a cocoon unaware of the circumstances that brought her to that place. But it is only while in that cocoon the caterpillar is transformed, the old is gone and the new bursts forth with all its beauty.
That cocoon must be a rather lonely place, isolated from the rest of the world. Scientists tell us that the time in the cocoon can last from ten days to several months!
And so it is with us. As moms, wives, sisters, and friends there are times in our lives when we have to go into our cocoons-times when our Destiny requires that we walk the road alone. You see, you are the only one called to walk down the path of your Destiny. So naturally, there are times when (even as moms) we must set our hearts and minds off ourselves and our circumstances to meditate on why we were put here in the first place. There are also seasons of loneliness we must go through in order to get to the next breakthrough, the next phase of our lives. While these seasons are not easy, they are totally necessary in order to go where God, Himself ,calls us.
In order to be the mom, daughter, sister, and wife that we are called to be, there are times when we must sit in our cocoons so that we can be transformed into beautiful ones!

This is so true, and such an encouragement for those times when we need to cocoon for a bit!
Very true! This is great encouragement, especially for women who always feel the need to call their girlfriend as soon as they’ve got a problem going on. Sometimes, or all the time, we need to sit alone with the Lord and let him guide us through it
I want to say so many things, but suffice it to say….”Right on Elisse, right on!”
Being a chic who’s had to hang out in the hospital all my life, I’ve learned the value of cacooning by no choice of my own. But in all my admissions spent there, I believe Gods done some good (& needed) transforming. Our cacooning is never in vain.
Great post! Thank you for writing it.
The caterpillar is an immature butterfly. It is in the cocoon that it matures and becomes the beautiful creature it was created to be. Without the “cocoon time” it would not mature. Thanks for the encouragement - it reminds me how necessary our “cocoon time” is.
This is so true. Thanks for this.
