As the wind continues to drop, we here at Foundational Fashion want to come to the rescue of how to maintain fashion while staying bundled under your winter coats.

I first got turned onto scarves during my early years of college, where international students or friends of mine who had been traveling internationally started sporting some of the most beautiful fabrics in a variety of forms around their necks. I quickly started a mini-collection myself, varying in length, thickness, and color pattern.

Finding new ways to wear your scarf helps keep your neck warm, your outfits in season, and allows you to get greater mileage out of your threads. Let’s look at your options.

1. The Simple Front Tie Great for longer, thinner scarves so that it doesn’t give your front a bulky appearance.
2. Front Loop Probably the most popular, this one is great for any scarf thickness due to it’s adjustability.
3. Loop Pull-Through Great for lighter scarves and better coverage all over your neck and chest.
4. Cross Flip After tying your scarf (see #1), flip the arms through the loop for a simple alternation of the first look.
5. The Drape Perfect for extra layers while walking around the office.
6. Curler Take a triangle scarf, twisting it into a long snake like shape, wrapping around and tucking under to keep it in place.
7. The Bib For those triangle scarves, one of the most stylish fashions is to tie it behind your neck and let the corners drape over your shoulders
8. The Criss-Cross (not pictured) Similar to the loop pull-through, you alternate layers that the arms go through to create a cross-layered look.

Clothe yourself in Jesus Christ-and a fabulous scarf, too!

  2. This is awesome!! I have a lil scarf collection. By seeing all the different ways I can wear ‘em, I won’t have to buy more scarves to be creative. I can be creative with wearing them different ways. Thank YOU!

Thank you so much, for sharing this! I have several scarves, that I haven’t worn yet, as I don’t know how to style them.

I have a big weakness for scarves - new and vintage - and a sizable collection that I keep in one of those skinny, 10-shelf, hanging canvas shoe bags. So far, it’s the best way I’ve found to organize them. Any other ideas?
